The Multi-Agent Programming Contest from 2005–2010: From Gold Collecting to Herding Cows

چکیده
TheMulti-Agent Programming Contest is an annual international event on programming multi-agent systems: Teams of agents participate in a simulated cooperative scenario. It started in 2005 and is organised in 2010 for the sixth time. The contest is an attempt to stimulate research in the area of multi-agent system development and programming by (i) identifying key problems in the field and (ii) collecting suitable benchmarks that can serve as milestones for testing multi-agent programming languages, platforms and tools. This article provides a short history of the contest since it started and reports in more detail on the cows and cowboys scenario implemented for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 contest editions. We briefly discuss the underlying technological background and conclude with a critical discussion of the experiences and lessons learned.

This paper describes our contribution to the Multi-Agent Programming Contest organised as part of the ProMAS 2007 workshop. The objective of this contribution was the evaluation of a new lightweight agent architecture targeted at devices with different capabilities. Therefore, the agents developed in this work can run on mobile devices that makes our approach different from the other contributi...
متن کاملHerding Agents - JIAC TNG in Multi-Agent Programming Contest 2008
A competition always shows the performance of the participants. We have developed the JIAC TNG agent framework for two years and take this as a chance to see where we stand. This paper describes our approach to the contest scenario from a software engineering point of view. We also show different strategies which we are considering to
متن کاملThe First Contest on Multi-agent Systems Based on Computational Logic
This is a short report about the first contest of Multi-Agent Systems (MASs) that are based on computational logic. The CLIMA workshop series (which started in 1999) is a forum to discuss techniques, based on computational logic, for representing, programming, and reasoning about Multi-Agent Systems in a formal way. Now in its seventh year, it was felt that organising a competition for evaluati...
متن کاملDeveloping Artificial Herders Using Jason
This paper gives an overview of a proposed strategy for the “Cows and Herders” scenario given in the Multi-Agent Programming Contest 2009. The strategy is to be implemented using the Jason platform, based on the agent-oriented programming language AgentSpeak. The paper describes the agents, their goals and the strategies they should follow. The basis for the paper and for participating in the c...
متن کاملSHABaN Multi-agent Team To Herd Cows
This paper is submitted as the final team description of SHABaN team, one of the participants in the Second Multi-Agent Programming Contest in association with the ProMAS 2008 workshop. Here we describe the agent architecture and behaviors to solve a cooperative task in a highly dynamic environment. Our approach consists of evaluating strategies in NetLogo and a raw implementation.
